CIP skid system and its overview

Clean in place skid systems are systems which help in cleaning the interiors of surfaces such as pipes, filters and processing equipment without dis-assembly. It is used in industries which require a high level of hygiene such as dairy, pharmaceutical and processed foods.

Clean in place skid systems use different processes for cleaning such as steam, hot water or chemicals to clean the systems. Phases in a typical CIP skid system includes

1. Pre-rinse

2. Acid wash

3. Rinse

4. Chemical wash

5. Air blow

In the pre-rinse phase, the detergent water is pumped to prepare for the acid wash which may use detergent for cleaning, followed by rinsing and chemical wash which uses sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide both are strong bases which dissolve fats, finally air is used to clean the systems of any remaining chemicals and clear the system.

Thus cip skid systems are an effective way to clean surface which are hard to reach and used heavily across industries.
